Another year has gone by already! It feels like only yesterday that we were celebrating Christmas 2021, and now here we are in 2022 with just 39 more days to go. This year has definitely been another roller coaster ride, but the holidays are almost here, a much-needed break for many individuals.
Time to Get Into The Christmas Spirit With These Fun Activities
1. It is not too late to get a head start on your Christmas shopping. It’s a great feeling ticking items off your list and knowing that you’re prepared for the big day. Plus, it’ll be one less thing to worry about in the hectic lead-up to Christmas. Why not try online shopping this year? Avoid the crowds and get your shopping done from the comfort of your own home.
2. Start planning your holiday menu. Whether you’re catering for a large family gathering or just cooking for two, it’s always good to plan ahead so that you know what you’ll be making on Christmas Day (and the days leading up to it). We all know how those supermarket aisles can be a couple of days before Christmas.
3. Get crafty and make some DIY decorations. Handmade decorations always add a special touch to any home during the holidays. If you’re not particularly crafty, don’t worry – there are plenty of easy tutorials online that anyone can follow. And if all else fails, you can always buy some ready-made decorations from your local store or from someone you know. My granddaughter makes beautiful candles and they are perfect gifts and perfect for decorating.
4. Wrap up warm and go for a winter walk. There’s nothing quite like getting some fresh air to clear your head and get into the festive spirit. Just make sure you dress warmly if you live in cold climate areas.
5. Curl up with a festive movie (or two). Make yourself a cozy nest on the sofa, pop some popcorn and enjoy watching some classic Christmas movies (bonus points if they’re accompanied by a blazing fire in the fireplace!). If you’re stuck for ideas, check out our list of festive flicks that are guaranteed to get you into the holiday mood.
6. Start writing your Christmas cards Get into the festive spirit by sitting down and writing out your Christmas cards. This is also a great time to start thinking about what you want to achieve in 2023 and start writing down your New Year’s resolutions.
7. Donate to a toy drive or food bank. Giving back is one of the best parts of the holiday season. There are plenty of toy drives and food banks that would love your donations, so take a look around and see where you can help out in your local community.
8 . Plan a fun-filled holiday scavenger hunt for your kids (or grandkids). This is a great way to keep them entertained whilst also getting them excited about Christmas.
9 . Start collecting those unmistakable red Starbucks cups… Even if you’re not a coffee drinker, there’s no denying that those iconic red Starbucks cups signal that Christmas is on its way. Make sure you collect one (or two) every time you visit Starbucks so that by Christmas Day you have a whole set.
10. Dust off your baking skills and whip up some festive treats… Baking is one of our favorite things to do at Christmas, especially when there are tasty treats involved! Whether you opt for something simple like gingerbread cookies or something more challenging like an elaborately decorated cake, we guarantee that everyone will enjoy tucking into your delicious creations.
