At what age should a child learn shapes and colors?
The rule of thumb is that 18 months is the acceptable age when children can developmentally grasp the idea of colors.
But no child is the same, some learn quicker than others and youngsters continue to learn shapes, patterns, and colors as they mature.
But regardless of how long it takes or what age is the best we all know that the act of coloring affects people of all ages, even adults. It is the simplest form of activity and provides a number of benefits.
Let’s take a quick look at a few benefits coloring can provide.
1. Keeps them entertained and quiet. A pastime parents can appreciate a few minutes during the day. But also teaches them to have patience.
2. It can help with coordination. Gripping the crayon and learning how to hold it.
3. Learning the colors by name and sight.
4. Learning to focus.
5. Promotes creativity.
