The Holidays are usually the busiest and most stressful times of the year for a lot of people.
We all know that last year with the ongoing uncertainty of Covid that many of us were in our homes trying to stay safe while making the best of a difficult time. Since then many stores and businesses have reopened and people are moving about the country even while the threat of yet another virus is surrounding our lives.
There are ways to relieve some of the stress and still make Christmas an enjoyable safe holiday.
How?
1. Start shopping early. Christmas will be here before we know it and getting ahead of the hectic pace of buying and wondering what to buy, fighting crowds, and trying to take care of all your other obligations just creates chaos.
2. Make a list. Not a mental list. This tends to get lost in our overwhelmed minds. Make a note of the people you want to buy a gift or something special you want to do for them and do it.
3. Start planning the meal now. Another list of food items you will need and find those recipes put them together in a place you can get to quickly. Don’t wait until the last minute. Many items can be bought now or even a few weeks before the Holidays so your time is not spent rushing around in the stores looking for things.
4. Holiday theme? How will you decorate this year? Start sorting out the boxes of decor and figure out what you will display and make sure all the lights are working. If not, get them now and have that task behind you.
5. Guestlist of invites. Who is coming to eat? Who is coming to celebrate? Or maybe you are visiting someone so now is a good time to start checking travel arrangements.
To help get a start on the gift-buying we created a simple checklist to print out and start using. It can be downloaded here. It is free!
